The victim was targeted after she got into her Renault Clio, which was parked behind Aldi in High Street, Renfrew, between 17:45 and 18:00 on Tuesday.

After being threatened with a weapon, the 24-year-old got out and ran to a shop for help. She was uninjured.

Sgt Manjit Singh, of Police Scotland, said: "Officers are continuing their inquiries to trace the man responsible and we are currently studying CCTV footage to establish more detail on him.

"Officers are carrying out patrols in the area. However, I would stress that this is an isolated incident. I would ask that people remain vigilant when entering or leaving their vehicles.
