Man killed in two-vehicle crash near Dolphinton

A 22-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash in South Lanarkshire.

The incident happened at about 16:30 on Saturday, when a Toyota Aygo travelling south on the A702 near Dolphinton collided with a Vauxhall Zafira which had emerged from the A721.

The 22-year-old, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and other passenger of the Toyota were taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Their condition is not known.

The driver and passenger of the Vauxhall vehicle did not require medical treatment.

The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators carried out inquiries and examined the location.
