Bookmakers in Blantyre robbed by man in ski mask

Police are attempting to trace a man who robbed a bookmakers in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire.

The man, who was wearing a ski mask, targeted the Ladbrokes store on Main Street, at about 12:45 on Thursday.

He threatened staff and demanded money before making off towards the town's Millheugh Place.

No-one was injured but police said staff had been left badly shaken by the raid. They have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

Suspect description

The man was described as being about 5ft 7in tall, of slim build.

He wore a black Nike three-quarter length football jacket and had taped across a logo on the left side of the jacket with silver electrical tape.

He also wore dark gloves, light trousers and trainers.

Police said officers were checking CCTV footage from the local area.

Det Con Debbie Walker said: "The area would have been busy at the time of the incident and I'm appealing for anyone with any information to contact us.

"Perhaps you saw the man acting suspiciously prior to the crime taking place or you noticed him running off toward Millheugh Place. If you have any information or knowledge then please do pass it on to the police."
