Man escapes after robbing bookmakers in Lanark

Detectives have appealed for information after a man robbed a bookmakers in Lanark.

The thief threatened staff at the Ladbrokes betting shop on the town's High Street before making off with an unspecified amount of money.

Police say he headed in the direction of the Delves Park area.

The man was wearing a red, white and blue scarf across his face during the robbery, which happened at about 16:30 on Friday.

He is described as being about 6ft tall, with a slim build. He was wearing an Adidas hooded top at the time.

Det Sgt Scott Wilson, from Wishaw CID, said: "I'm appealing for anyone with any information to contact us regarding this robbery.

"Perhaps you saw the man acting suspiciously prior to the crime taking place or you noticed him running off toward Delves Park.

"We are conducting door to door inquiries and analysing available CCTV. Any information you have, no matter how small, could make a real difference as part of our broader investigation."
