A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with hoax bomb calls made to two Scottish secondary schools.

The charges involve calls made to Cumnock Academy and Auchinleck Academy on Wednesday 1 June.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday.

He is the second teenager arrested this month in connection with hoax bomb threats to schools. The first was a 15-year-old boy.

He was arrested on 2 June following incidents in Glasgow, Clydebank, Campbeltown and Lanarkshire.

Police Scotland said in his case a report would be submitted to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration.
