Appeal after elderly man hit by car in Glasgow

Police have appealed for witnesses after "an as yet unidentified elderly man" was hit by a car while crossing a road in the south side of Glasgow.

He was struck by a red Toyota Aygo outside 159 Kilmarnock Road, in Shawlands, at about 22:00 on Sunday.

The man is being treated for head and leg injuries at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is serious but stable.

The 31-year-old female car driver and her two passengers were not hurt.
