Police issue descriptions of men wanted over Hamilton shooting
Police have issued descriptions of two men they want to trace over a "targeted" shooting in Hamilton.
Two men are in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital after being shot in the South Lanarkshire town at about 14:30 on Monday.
The men, aged 26 and 27, were attacked on a footpath between Millgate Road and Westwood Crescent.
Police said they were trying to trace two men over the incident, one of whom who was wearing a balaclava.
The 26-year-old suffered injuries to his head, face and chest. The other suffered face and head injuries.
Police initially said there was no information on the attackers but responses to witness appeals have helped form a description.
Officers are trying to trace two men, one around 5ft 6in who was wearing a balaclava and a dark jacket, while the second man is about 6ft with short crew-cut hair.
Det Insp Grant Durie, from the major investigation team, said: "I would like to make it clear from the outset that we believe this was a targeted attack and that those injured were the intended victims.
"We are in the process of piecing together the circumstances of what has happened and are still reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries to gather additional information.
"If you were in the area around the time of incident or you have any information or knowledge about the suspects or the incident then please do contact police."
Police said that the 26-year-old victim was being treated at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, while the other was at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.
