Police have released CCTV images of a man and woman they want to speak to in connection with an unprovoked attack in Glasgow city centre.

A 42-year-old man was left with injuries to his face and body after he was assaulted as he walked along Renfield street at about 00:30 on Monday 7 March.

The man police want to speak to is white, in his mid 30s, of stocky build with brown, receding hair.

He was wearing a light grey hooded top.

He was seen on Renfield Street at the time of the incident, before he made his way along Sauchiehall Street towards West Nile Street.

The woman, who is thought to have witnessed the attack, is described as being white, aged 25-30, about 5ft 5in tall, of medium build.

She had long blonde hair and tattoos across her chest. She was wearing a black top and trousers and was carrying a red bag.

Det Con Vikki Reid said: "This was a violent and unprovoked attack on a complete stranger who has been scarred for life as a result.

"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or who recognises the man or woman in the images to get in touch as they may be able to assist with our investigation."
