Staff threatened in armed robbery at Dumbarton newsagent

Police are hunting for an armed robber who held up a newsagents in Dumbarton.

Staff at M&M Stores in Bonhill Road were threatened with a weapon during the robbery which happened at about 10:40.

The man, who wore black clothes, black sunglasses and had an Irish accent, escaped with a quantity of cash after an alarm was sounded at the shop.

Det Con Bruce Fyfe said no-one was hurt during the incident but shop workers were left badly shaken.

He said: "We are currently carrying out inquiries including examining CCTV and speaking to local residents to gather as much information as possible to help us trace the person responsible."

The suspect was last seen on Townhead Road heading towards Bellsmyre.
