Murder probe after man dies following fight outside football ground
The death of a man who was seriously injured outside a football ground in Glasgow is being treated as murder.
Gary Weir, 24, was injured along with three other men, aged 23, 25 and 26, outside Shettleston Juniors ground in Shettleston Road at 00:35 on Sunday.
He suffered stab wounds and later died in hospital. The other men were released from hospital after treatment.
Police said Mr Weir's death was being treated as murder following the results of a post-mortem examination.
Det Chf Insp Allan Burton, from Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team, said: "A murder inquiry has now been launched and extensive inquiries are being carried out by detectives to trace who is responsible.
"We are prioritising the interviewing of those who were at Shettleston Juniors on Saturday night as well as reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
"Detectives will be carrying out door-to-door inquiries to gather more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident."
It is believed that the disturbance happened after a 21st birthday party function had been held at the club on Saturday night.
Det Chf Insp Burton added: "I would appeal to anyone who attended Shettleston Juniors Club on Saturday night, or anyone who was outside around the time of the incident, to come forward as they may have information that is vital to this investigation."
