Man dies after Milngavie house fire

A 45-year-old man has died following a house fire in East Dunbartonshire.

Emergency services were called to the property at Catter Gardens in Milngavie at about 02:00 on Sunday.

Fire crews removed a man, woman and boy from the house.

They later confirmed that the man had died. The 42-year-old woman is said to be in a stable condition and the 11-year old boy is not thought to have suffered serious injuries.

The circumstances are not thought to be suspicious and inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 45-year-old man has died following a fire in a house in Catter Gardens, Milngavie.

"A 42-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow."

In a statement, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Specialist officers from the fire investigation unit attended the scene and will work with police to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."
