Boy and girl threatened with knife by man in Newton Mearns
A boy and a girl were threatened with a knife by man who tried to rob them on a cycle path in East Renfrewshire.
The children, aged 14 and 15, were approached on the path leading from Barrhead Road to Crookfur Road in Newton Mearns at about 21:30 on Saturday.
The man demanded their personal property but the children shouted for help before running off uninjured.
The suspect is described as white, with a skinny build and about 5ft 8in tall.
His hair was as brown and shaved in. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black, hooded jacket with the hood up, jogging bottoms, trainers and white t-shirt.
Det Con Fiona Weir, from the Community Investigation Unit, said: "Two children were threatened at knifepoint by a man intent on robbing them of their personal property. Although unharmed, they were clearly shocked by what occurred.
"We have conducted a number of door-to-door inquiries in the area and are still assessing CCTV opportunities.
"We know this a popular route and many residents will be concerned to learn that children were threatened on the cycle path.
"We do understand that this is an isolated incident and we have no further reports of a man matching the description attempting to rob anyone else that evening.
"To prey on those he believed were vulnerable is a very cruel act. At this time, we are seeking the assistance of the public to trace the person responsible."
