Men attacked with knife outside takeaway shop in Baillieston

Two men were attacked by a man with a large knife outside a takeaway shop in the Baillieston area of Glasgow.

It happened as the men stood in the doorway of Spice Boy's Takeaway on Swinton Road at about 00:01 on Tuesday. A man shouted at them, then ran towards them and assaulted them with the knife.

One of the men, aged 50, suffered a serious shoulder injury. The other, 51, was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Police described the attack as "brutal and ruthless".

The victims made their way back into the takeaway after the attack.

The suspect got into a white car, possibly a Seat Leon, before making off east along Rhindmuir Road.

The 50-year-old man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment and later released.

The suspect is described as white, Scottish, 5ft 7in to 5ft 9in, of medium build, and was wearing dark clothing and carrying a baseball cap.

Det Con Juan Carlos Arias De Leon said: "This was a brutal and ruthless attack and officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"I would appeal to anyone who was on Swinton Road just after midnight on Tuesday and may have witnessed a disturbance to please get in touch.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen a white-coloured car in the area around the time of the incident, or a man matching the above description."
