A 71-year-old man has died after falling off his bicycle on a road in North Lanarkshire.

The pensioner was riding on the A71 Main Street in Overtown at 09:20 on Wednesday when he came off the bike.

He was taken to Wishaw General Hospital then transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died.

Police have appealed for witnesses, particularly the woman driving a white Fiat 500 who is believed to have stopped to help the man.
