Woman dies after being hit by a train

A woman has died after she was hit by a train on a railway line in Easter Ross.

British Transport Police (BTP) said that the 46-year-old, who has not been named, was hit by the Tain-Inverness service shortly after 2200 BST on Wednesday.

It is understood that the woman lived in the area.

A spokesman from the BTP said that they were not treating the death as suspicious.
