Treasury chief Danny Alexander to open new bird hide

Chief secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, is to officially open a new bird hide on a visit to his Highlands constituency later this month.

The MP for Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey was invited by RSPB Scotland to perform the ribbon cutting ceremony at Insh Marshes, near Kingussie.

Called The Lookout, the hide has views across the reserve which provides habitat for wading birds.

Lapwing, snipe, redshank and oystercatcher are frequent visitors.
