Inverness councillor John Holden denies benefits claims

A Highland councillor has denied illegally claiming almost £45,000 in benefits.

John Holden, 62, of Inverness, faces a series of charges claiming he obtained money to which he was not entitled, over a period of nine years.

At Inverness Sheriff Court his lawyer Michael Chapman said his client was pleading not guilty to the charges.

Trial was set for 7 January, with a preliminary hearing in December this year.
