£1.7m spending plan for Fort William care home

Highland Council has unveiled proposals to upgrade its care home in Fort William.

Councillors will decide at a meeting next week whether to spend £1.7m over the next five years.

The upgrade would extend the capacity at Invernevis, allowing it to take 28 residents.

A previous administration wanted to build a new home at Fort William but the project was abandoned on cost grounds last year.

Plans to replace local authority-run homes in Grantown-on-Spey, Inverness, Muir of Ord and Tain were also scrapped.
