Snow disrupts travel and schools in the Highlands

Heavy snow and freezing temperatures have closed roads and affected the first day back at school for children in some parts of the Highlands.

The A87 between Invergarry and Bun Loyne was shut by snow. The A86 was closed at Loch Laggan after a lorry jack-knifed but later re-opened.

Motorists were also warned about poor conditions on long stretches of the A82 and A830.

Thirteen schools have also been affected by the weather.

Most were open, but pupils and staff were advised against travelling on minor roads.
