Inverness ice fall woman's helper attacked by a man.

A man who went to the aid of a woman who had slipped and fallen on an icy pavement was attacked by another man, police have said.

The victim suffered facial injuries in the assault on Glenurquhart Road, near Torvean Cemetery, in Inverness.

Officers said the assault happened at about 0215 GMT on 1 January but it was not reported to police until 7 January.

After going to the woman's aid, the man said he was confronted by two men before being attacked by one of them.

His assailant was described as 19 to 20 years old, of stocky build and 5ft 10in tall. He spoke with a Glasgow accent.
