The body of a man who went missing on Ben Nevis has been found on the mountain, police have said.

Haider Ali Manir, 20, from Worcester, disappeared on 30 January while walking with his cousin.

She turned back and raised the alarm when Mr Manir failed to return. Rescuers had spent five days looking for him, with eight mountain rescue teams involved.

Mr Manir was said to have been ill-equipped for the conditions.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: "Searches were carried out over a period of five days and during this time rescue teams had to endure extremely poor weather conditions and reduced visibility, making it difficult for searchers to operate on the hill."
