A man was stabbed with a samurai sword during a visit to Wick to see his young son, the High Court in Glasgow has heard.

Danny Ryder, 19, had travelled from his home in Orkney to the Caithness town where the child lived with his mother and her new partner Anthony Robertson.

Robertson, 18, from Wick, admitted assaulting Mr Ryder following a row between them last October.

He was remanded in custody pending sentencing on 2 March.
