Met Office warn of further heavy snowfall in Scotland

Snow could fall to depths of several centimetres in parts of Scotland on Tuesday, the Met Office has said.

It has issued a "be aware" weather warning for the Highlands and Islands, Grampian, Central, Tayside and Fife.

Forecasters said rain extending from the north east was likely to turn to snow as it crossed Scotland.

The Met Office said there was potential for snow on ground at 200m (650ft), with accumulations of more than 10cm (4in) over the mountains.

The snow is expected to ease by evening.
