Teenager rescued from tree after River Averon fall

A teenager had to be airlifted to hospital after falling down a steep river embankment in Easter Ross while walking her dog.

The 18-year-old woman was rescued from a tree next to the River Averon at Ardross on Wednesday night.

It is understood she was trapped by the river, which was in spate, and used her mobile phone to raise the alarm.

Police officers, a local water bailiff and a rescue helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth helped her to safety.

She was treated for injuries at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness before being released. Her dog was unharmed.
