Roadside protest near Newtonmore over A9 upgrade

A roadside protest has been staged on a stretch of the A9 to highlight a campaign for a bridge or underpass to be added as part of its upgrade.

Dual carriageway is being constructed at Crubenmore, near Newtonmore.

Campaigners, including riding centre boss Ruaridh Ormiston, are not opposed to the improvements.

But they have argued that walkers, cyclists and horse riders would no longer be able to cross the A9 to access an old military road.

Transport Scotland said there were safe crossing points north of Crubenmore.
