Firefighters are dealing with two large wild fires in the Highlands.

Crews were called to a blaze near Drumnadrochit at about 1345 BST and another close to the A835 road at Craigdarroch, near Contin at 1500 BST.

The A835 just north of Contin was closed for more than six hours.

Northern Constabulary said smoke had started billowing across the road near Craigdarroch at about 1500 BST. The road was shut and remained closed when tyres in a nearby yard caught fire.

The yard also contained propane gas cylinders which were later discovered to be empty.

Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service described the fires as "major".

The incidents follow a gorse fire at Daviot and another at Kyle of Lochalsh on Tuesday.
