Applicants sought for Highland Council youth convener

Applicants are being sought for a new young person to champion the cause of teenagers in the Highlands.

The council has launched a search for a new youth convener.

Gemma Mackintosh, from Ardersier, who currently holds the position, completes her year in office in September.

The post holder gets full voting rights on Highland Council's education, culture and sport committee and a bursary of £11,229.

The winning candidate will become the local authority's fifth youth convener and will be based at council offices in Inverness.

Applicants have until midday on 27 May to register their interest in the 12-month position.

Applicants are asked to write or email in no more than 500 words how they ensure young people's views are being voiced to the council.

They will also need to submit a CV and provide the names of two referees.

Completed applications should be sent to Ian Abbot, senior youth development officer, via email to ian.abbot@highland.gov.uk or by post to The Highland Council, Education, Culture and Sport, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX.
