Police probe Western Isles schools tendering process

Police are to investigate the tendering process to provide accountancy services for a body set up to build and operate six new schools in the Western Isles.

It follows a complaint that the tendering process was not carried out fairly by the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council).

Last year the council agreed to pay an out-of-court settlement to Nicolson Accountancy, after it sued the council.

The firm said contract details were changed after it submitted its tender.
