Delays on Kessock Bridge rise from 10 minutes to 20

Morning peak time delays on the Kessock Bridge have doubled, according to traffic monitoring during major repairs to the crossing on the A9.

On its Twitter site, contractor Scotland Transerv tweeted that at 0815 BST there was a delay of 20 minutes.

Monday morning saw hold ups of just 10 minutes leading to commuters being thanked for heeding advice on how to avoid congestion.

Twenty minutes was still far below expected delays of up to 75 minutes.

By 0850 BST on Tuesday the time taken to cross the bridge had fallen to five minutes and traffic was free flowing by 0920 BST, Scotland Transerv said.

Its Kessock Bridge Twitter site now has 150 followers.

Repairs to the bridge will run until 26 June.
