Revised pay offer made to Hial airport security staff

Security staff at Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (Hial) have been made a revised pay offer by their employers.

Members of the Prospect and other unions have been involved in a dispute with Hial over their pay and conditions.

The airports company said trade unions would now be holding a consultative ballot on the offer.

Union members at Hial's 11 airports, which include Dundee, were previously being balloted on strike action.

Earlier this month, union spokesman Alan Denney said action could take place in the week beginning 4 July.

The date coincides with the likely arrival of visitors for the Barclays Scottish Open, which takes place at the Castle Stuart links near Inverness from 7-10 July.

A Hial spokeswoman said: "The trade unions will be holding a consultative ballot on a revised offer which they will be in receipt of later today.

"The consultative ballot will take approximately two weeks thus lifting the threat of any disruption to the Scottish Open."
