999 call sparks searches near Inverness for woman

Extensive searches have been made of areas near Inverness for a woman who called the emergency services but ended her call before saying where she was.

Police said they were concerned for her wellbeing following the call which was made at about 2000 BST on Thursday.

The woman is believed to have connections with Beauly.

A police spokeswoman said: "The call ended prior to all information regarding her details and location being received."

She added: "It is thought she may have a dog with her and have been in a woodland area.

"Extensive searches have been carried out locally as it is believed the woman has connections to the Beauly area."
