Two women have been selected to join a professional climber on a trip to find new climbing routes in Norway.

Helena Robinson, from Guernsey, and Julia Snihur, who lives in Barcelona, had to demonstrate their climbing skills at Ratho quarry in Edinburgh.

They will join Lochaber-based Dave MacLeod in Tromso next month.

Ms Robinson studied in Edinburgh and has previously climbed in Switzerland, while Ms Snihur learned to climb in the USA before moving to Spain.

The pair were among four finalists in the Gore-Tex Experience Tour New Routes in the Arctic challenge.

They had to demonstrate their climbing skills at Edinburgh International Climbing Centre at Ratho and also explain their motivation for climbing to a panel.
