One-engined Glasgow to Stornoway plane lands safely

A full-scale emergency took place at Stornoway airport after a plane reported that one of its engines had stopped.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the airport, but the Flybe Saab 340 aircraft landed safely using one engine.

The Glasgow to Stornoway flight reported the problem as it was coming in over the Minch.

Passengers said the pilot and crew handled the emergency well.

Earlier this month, a Glasgow to Stornoway service was aborted after smoke was seen coming from one engine as the plane was taxi-ing on the runaway at Glasgow Airport.
