Inverness, Elgin, Manchester men appear on drug charges

Five men have appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court after police seized cannabis and amphetamines allegedly worth up to £90,000.

Martin Gordon, 43, and John Hendry, 31, both from Inverness, and Daniel Lyons, 25, and Graeme Paterson, 23, both of Elgin, appeared from custody.

Wayne Beresford, 34, from Manchester, also appeared before Sheriff Margaret Neilson on Monday.

They made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody.

Three women, two from Inverness and another from Liverpool, were released by the procurator fiscal pending further investigation.

Following the men's appearance, depute fiscal Sharon Ralph said: "They all appeared in private in respect to drug-related offences relating to 4 August in Inverness.

"They made no plea or declaration and were committed for further examination. All were remanded in custody."
