A man has appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh accused of murdering his brother.

Andrew Fraser, 29, died at Raigmore Hospital two days after an incident at his home in Inverness in March.

His brother, Gary, 31, is alleged to have stabbed him. He also faces other charges including an allegation he brandished a sword at a woman.

Judge Lord Bannatyne was told discussions between prosecutors and Mr Fraser's defence team were continuing.

He ordered a further hearing in two weeks.

Mr Fraser has also been accused of being concerned in the supply of heroin, attempting to defeat the ends of justice by washing clothes said to have been worn at the time of the alleged murder and assaulting police

A further charge alleges that he smeared excrement over the walls and door of a cell in a police station in Inverness.
