Night-time road works on the A96 near Inverness

A £1.1m project to re-surface a stretch of the A96 east of Inverness will start on 29 August, Transport Scotland has said.

The work between Allanfearn and the Smithton Roundabout is expected to last about 28 days.

Transport Scotland said the A96 between Barn Church Road and the roundabout would be closed at night to avoid major disruption.

Closures will take place from 19:00 to 07:00 BST on weekdays.

At weekends the section will be shut from 19:00 to 10:00 BST. Diversions will be in place.

Transport Scotland said nearby residents had been consulted and noisier work would not take place after 23:00 BST.
