Section of A96 at Inverness to shut overnight for works

A section of the A96 to the east of Inverness is set to close at night for several weeks to allow major resurfacing work.

Scottish government agency Transport Scotland said the £1.1m project would start on 29 August.

The work, between the Smithton roundabout and Allanfearn, is expected to last about 28 days.

The road will be closed overnight on week days from 19:00 until 07:00 and at weekends from 19:00 until 10:00.

Diversions will be in place throughout the period of the works.
