Met Office warning of heavy rain for Scotland

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert urging the public to be aware that heavy rain has been forecast for large parts of Scotland.

Slow moving heavy showers and localised flooding have been forecast for the Highlands, the North East, Central, Tayside, Fife and Strathclyde.

Lothian and the South of Scotland have also been warned to expect torrential rain.

Highland Council is due to hold a meeting later on recent flooding.

The public meeting in Culloden Academy follows floods that hit Culloden, Balloch, Smithton and parts of Inverness.

The Met Office warning is for conditions up to midnight.
