Search for missing angler in Sutherland stood down

A search for an angler who was last seen in the Stoer Bay area of Sutherland on Sunday evening has been stood down for the night.

Stornoway Coastguard have been co-ordinating the operation, which involved shore and sea searches and a coastguard helicopter.

The man was last seen wearing a blue waterproof jacket but no lifejacket.

Further searches of coastal areas, caves and inlets are expected to get under way on Tuesday morning.

The operation has included Lochinver and Ullapool coastguard rescue teams, the coastguard helicopter from Stornoway and Lochinver lifeboat.

Carol Collins, Stornoway Coastguard watch manager, said: "We are very concerned for the safety of this angler."
