Work on three Highland Council care homes 'progressing'

A £4.1m project to upgrade Highland Council care homes is progressing, the local authority has said.

Work to upgrade toilets, bathing facilities and a hairdressing room at Grant House in Grantown-on-Spey has started, with further revamps in 2012.

Improvements to Invernevis House in Fort William will start being made at the end of October and at Ach an Eas in Inverness before the end of the year.

Some upgrades have already been made to Invernevis House.

A previous council administration wanted to build a new home at Fort William but the project was abandoned on cost grounds last year.

Plans to replace local authority-run homes in Grantown-on-Spey, Inverness, Muir of Ord and Tain were also scrapped.
