24-hour opening plan for Asda's first Highlands store

Asda has sought public views on its plans to open its first store in the Highlands for 24 hours a day.

Work started in June on the supermarket at Slackbuie on Inverness's Southern Distributor Road, which Asda hopes to open in autumn 2012.

Asda said it would apply to Highland Council for a change to its planning consent, following a period of consultation.

Planning permission at the moment restricts opening times to 08:00-22:00.
