Co-op to cut jobs at store in Stornoway

Supermarket chain The Co-operative has confirmed that it will cut 24 full-time equivalent posts at its store in Stornoway.

The cuts affect about 50 part-time employees who share the positions.

A spokesman said staffing levels were reviewed as part of a wider effort to introduce fairer and more consistent standards across the company.

He said the review looked at achieving the optimum level of working hours while maintaining a service.
