Highland Council and NHS Highland plan proceeds

Highland Council and NHS Highland have issued a formal notice of planned changes to how some care services will be delivered.

Under the planned new working relationship, the council will look after issues relating to children.

NHS Highland will take over the main responsibility for adult community care.

The organisations have launched public consultation on the changes, which would take effect from 1 April 2012.

The shake-up was proposed in 2010.

Highland Council and NHS Highland said in December last year that there would be no job cuts among the 1,500 staff involved as a direct result of the move.
