Scottish Water gives all clear to North Uist tap water

Water supplies found with raised levels of aluminium in part of North Uist have returned to normal, Scottish Water has said.

The issue had affected about 450 properties which rely on the Bayhead Water Treatment plant for their supply.

Scottish Water said it had brought in equipment from southern England to help resolve the problem.

People had been advised not to drink or cook with the water but could still use it for flushing toilets.
