Caledonian MacBrayne boss Philip Preston stands down

The managing director of ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne has stood down after two years in the job.

Staff were told that, following discussions, Philip Preston had agreed to leave as part of what the board described as a "refocus".

The chartered engineer, who joined CalMac 18 years ago, held the post of operations director before being appointed managing director in 2009.

The company has not named Mr Preston's successor.
