Man dies after being hit by car on A9 at Alness

A 52-year-old male pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on the A9 at Alness in Easter Ross.

Northern Constabulary said emergency services attended the scene of the accident at about 19:10.

They said the road was likely to be closed for several hours, with local diversions in place through Alness.

Police have released no further details of the person who died. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is under way.
