South Uist man 'struck by vehicle'

A man whose body was found at the side of a road on South Uist on Tuesday morning is believed to have been struck by a vehicle, police have said.

Police named the dead man as 49-year-old Archibald Steele, from Bornish on the island.

Northern Constabulary said the driver of the vehicle was assisting officers with their inquiries.

The A865 at Ardmore has now reopened after it was shut at about 09:45 on Tuesday morning.
