Man who died after being hit by car on A9 named

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on the A9 at Alness in Easter Ross has been named by Northern Constabulary.

Ali Ergun was 52-year-old and from Alness.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said emergency services were called to the scene of the accident at about 19:10 on Tuesday.

The section of road was closed for several hours as police investigated the circumstances of the incident.
