A programme of repairs are to be made to the Kessock Bridge at Inverness starting from next year, at an estimated cost of £18m.

Two phases of resurfacing work are to be carried out from February to June 2013 and February to June 2014.

Before the work starts, Transport Scotland plans to make improvements to nearby junctions and roundabouts.

Highland Council said the upgrades would include traffic lights being installed on the Longman Roundabout.

An emergency repair project on the Kessock Bridge was completed last year.
