Highland councillors will be asked this week to approve a preferred route for a new road to ease congestion in Inverness city centre.

A cross-party working group has suggested that a £27.2m option for the West Link be adopted by Highland Council.

Option six of eight suggested routes for the road, it would cross the River Ness and Caledonian Canal.

Inverness Chamber of Commerce has given its backing to option six.

The full council will consider the proposal at a meeting in Inverness on Thursday.
